Let's talk about love and travel...

This blog post is inspired by a trip to Niagara Falls my boyfriend (Brian) and I just got back from. Before I talk to you about our awesome road trip to Canada, let me give you a bit of our history.

We have been together for four years now and we've had our fair share of crazy experiences. After his many attempts at hanging out with me by DM'ing me on Instagram, I finally caved and went to a bar with him. He took me to this dive bar like 1,000 feet from his house. My immediate thought was, oh no this is not going to work. We actually wound up having a great night talking about all the best and worst times in our lives and had an instant connection. Long story short, we’ve been in love ever since. 😜

In 2020 we bought a beautiful house that we have been making our home for the last two years. Without going into too much detail, Brian and I have been through some dark times together. Luckily, for us, we were able to use those difficult times to make us stronger. We have been supporting each other along the way and doing our best to move forward in a positive direction.

We have also taken many adventures along the way including our latest to Niagara Falls. I booked this trip as a birthday gift to Brian, our first long distance road trip together. We checked off many firsts on this mini-vacay like crossing the border which I have to admit was definitely nerve-racking since neither of us had done it before. In just three days/nights we zip lined, drank way more than we should have (and it showed), Maid of the mist boat tour, Cave of the winds tour, ate great food, went on a Ferris wheel, Karaoke (we weren't great and on the second night Brian left me on the stage to sing SHALLOW by myself), and I even got Brian to go on a freaking roller coaster.

It was a weekend full of adventure and lots of love. If you're in a relationship I highly recommend trying new things together because it brings you so much closer. There's nothing that brings me more joy than exploring a new place with the love of my life. Adventuring through life with him has been wild for sure but I wouldn't have it any other way. There is something about testing your limits together. I am highly afraid of heights but still insist on going zip lining on every vacation because it's exhilarating.

Doing things that scare you is a big FUCK YOU to your fears. I have made it a point since I was a little girl to do things that make me uncomfortable but now as I'm getting older I won't deny that it's getting harder to face certain things.

If you're anything like me then you probably have a strong desire to travel the world too. Brian and I have this goal in common. We are making a list of all the places we want to travel in the world so that each time we are ready to travel we already have a list of places at our finger tips. We are going to do our best to pick at least 1-2 per year because what is life if you're not living it to the fullest? Work hard, play hard.

Take a half hour and sit down with your partner and come up with a list of places like we did. Choose at least one destination a year, make a plan, and commit to it. Below you will see a few highlights from our trip and my hope is to inspire you to go book your next adventure.

Thank you, Dana, for sharing your experiences. Your pictures are beautiful. I especially like the one with you and Brian at the waterfalls with a rainbow right above your heads. Good luck with this new journey.
